>> up side the 10, touchdown redskins. >> the redskins are nfc east divisional champs. they beat the cowboys in a winner take all game. morris rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. griffin ran for 63 yards and threw for 100 more. skins will host the seahawks in round one of the playoffs next sunday. >> excellent. >> exciting. >> it will be crazy around here for the next couple of days. >> >> we'll be in a good mood. >> i'm surprised it took you guys as long as it did to report the redskins had won. it was at least 30 seconds into the broadcast. we look fine today. the winds have finally started to cut out. we are very cold even here at reagan national. the temperature is just 29 degrees. so areawide, we are back in the 20s.

the large of the tax hike since world war ii. secretary of state hillary clinton remains in a new york city hospital this morning after doctors discovered a blood clot stemming from a concussion she had earlier this month. now, a spokesperson for clinton says she is being treated with medication and will most likely stay in the hospital for the next 48 hours. the clot was discovered yesterday during a follow-up appointment. same-sex couples in maryland will be able to marry tomorrow on new year's day. state lawyers said because january 1st is a holiday and because there is a two-day wait period for licenses to take effect, they could not marry until january 4th. the state's attorney general now says all of the licenses will take effect tomorrow. 2012 was another tough year for the economy. >> so it is no surprise that lottery sales were up. fox's claudia cowan has a look

this is between lee highway towards 66. you will find a major crash there. traffic squeezing by to the left. but as you can see, this is a big crash with a vehicle fire. this is a passenger car that hit a tractor-trailer. so again, you will find some big problems this morning. this is on sully road. this is between lee highway as you approach 66. so far, looking good on 66 though inside and outside of the beltway without any problems or delays. and if you are coming down i- 270, you you will find all travel lanes from gaithersburg to the beltway. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. -- you will find all travel lands open from gaithersburg to the beltway. the big story this morning, the redskins are nmplet fc division champs for the first time since 1999 with their win over the dallas cowboys, 28-18. robert griffin iii made plays when he had to. the start of the game was this

congress too? we'll see if we can ask him about that. >> at least he can take a look at it and rub off some of the magics. >> to a developing story in our nation's capital, the clock is ticking and still no deal in sight. the senate will meet at 11:00 a.m. to try to strike a last-minute deal to avoid the fiscal cliff. >> republicans saying they are will be to work with congress and the president to come to an agreement. yesterday, president obama said job leaders have rejected his proposal to make a comprehensive deal. >> we don't yet see an agreement and now, the pressure is on congress to produce. >> we're willing to work with whoever can help. there is no single issue that remains an impossible sticking point. >> today, senate majority leader harry reid could push for a fallback bill which would only raise taxes on families making $2 other 50á,000 a year

or more. that plan would extend unemployment benefits for two million americans. icans. -- on families making $250,000 a year or more. police continue to look for evidence in the murder of a college student. a vigil was held last night at battlefield high school for xavier stringfellow. he was a graduate of the school. he was found stabbed to death friday evening in industry anti. his body was found inside a crashed minivan on a service road off of chain bridge road. police said he had been involved in an altercation. there has been an arrest in the case. 22-year-old johnny bonilla is charged with the murder. it will be a very happy new year for same-sex couples in maryland. this comes after the state's attorney general says they will be able to marry on january 1st. state lawmakers initially said that, because of the january 1st being a holiday and because there is a two-day wait period

secretary of state hillary clinton continues to roar from a broad clot doctors found yesterday and will likely ring in the new year from her hospital bed. >> clinton is being treated at a new york city hospital and doctors say the clot stems from a concussion she suffered earlier this month. we have a report. >> reporter: secretary of state hillary clinton has been admitted to new york presbyterian hospital. a spokesperson for the state department has release a statement that reads in part,

quote, secretary clinton's doctors discovered a blood clot had formed stemming from the -- sustained several weeks ago. officials say clinton is being treated with anticoagulants. dr.eric braverman is not affiliated with the case but says a blood clot could lead to dire consequences depending on its location. >> blood clots are serious depending on where they are and the leg is more common and simpler to treat. lungs are more life-threatening and to the brain, very serious if it is in the brain because of stroke and potential memory and injury to the entire brain. >> reporter: secretary clinton suffered the con suggestion mid- december after passing out in her home. it happened after she was recovering from a stomach virus that left her weak and dehydrated. blood clots are highly normal.

>> blood clots are very common post-concussion. postmenopausal women can be more at risk for blood clots. >> reporter: secretary clinton has been rated as the most popular member of the obama administration and she is often mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2016. there is no word on whether health concerns will play a role in her political future. in new york, patty ann brown, fox news. former president george h. w. bush also remains in the hospital this morning but his family says he has been moved out of intensive care. bush has been in a houston hospital since last month for bronchitis and other complications including a fever. a big production heading your way. you know who it is all about, somebody that tucker barnes loves. courtesy of kim kardashian and kanye west. we'll have more on the big baby

all right. so we're getting some issues here. annapolis is not 48 degrees. 29 in baltimore. 27 in gaithersburg. 26 out in martinsburg. check out manassas and culpeper, 21 degrees. areawide we are in the 20s. should be back in the 40s today. not sure we'll hit 48 in washington. maybe 45 for a daytime high. very quiet conditions around here right now. okay. we'll just go right through the forecast. quiet conditions right now. out to the west, we've got clouds along with the storm system across central portions of the country and those clouds will start to move in here a little later today. here is your forecast for the last day of the year. 45degrees. a nice warm-up. it should feel better way little bit of sunshine and wind much lighter out of the south and west at five to 10. becoming cloudy. by late morning, early afternoon, we'll be mostly cloudy. today, not bad. we will cloud up tonight. cloudy skies, chilly overnight with temperatures falling back

les miserables. third place went to django unchained. here in some news for you. kim kardashian and kanye west are expecting their first child. the hip-hop star and tucker barnes' favorite rapper announced that his girlfriend is pregnant during a concert in atlantic city last night. most of the kardashians tweeted about the news including her sisters and mother. there are reports the reality star is 12 weeks pregnant. this will be the couple's first child. >> oh, great. we get to hear about it for the next nine months. >> that is only the beginning. there has to be a and all the stuff that comes after that. can't wait for that. >> it will be a circus. the fiscal cliff could still be coming but lawmakers have reached an agreement on at least one issue that could have wound up costing you a lot more at the grocery store. >> falling off the fiscal cliff, means big cuts for the defense department. even if an agreement is reached, the threat still looms large. ♪

. you know there is a lot at stake in the fiscal cliff talks besides the looming tax hikes. fox's peter deucey has a look at the latest in massive cuts that could be coming to the defense department. >> reporter: senator lindsay graham told me this morning his phone rang during dinner saturday night. it was defense secretary leon panetta calling to say he had been told that the bill to avoid the fiscal cliff will not include anything to avoid sequestration. on tuesday, leon panetta will have to write 800,000 layoff notices to the defense contractors. >> if the president doesn't deal with this, is a cloudy commander in chief. i would be very disappointed in the president as commander in chief and disappointed in the republican party for allowing this to even be a possibility.

>> reporter: sequestration is designed to be painful. it was the penalty the congress imposed on itself last year. now, half of the cuts are directed at the pentagon but president obama said today the dramatic across the board cuts can be offset by raising taxes on the rich. >> if we have raised some revenue by the wealthy paying a little bit more, that would be sufficient to turn off what is called the these automatic spending cuts and that would have a better outcome for our economy long term. >> reporter: senator graham said he thinks it is possible to find the money in cuts elsewhere to spare the defense department. but he thinks a bipartisan agreement probably can't be reached until february or march. so at this point, there is no agreement on how to avoid the fiscal cliff but lawmakers managed to reach an agreement on another big issue. they have extend the farm bill by one year. it was set to expire soon and would have nearly doubled the
